Abstract
Chapter 4 further discusses practical interventions for application of the PMT principles in the home. It focuses on punishment and extinction techniques, including obstacles that emerge, parents’ concerns and issues, and when and how various techniques ought to be used. It outlines types of aversive events and punishments, factors that influence the effectiveness of punishment, common parental beliefs about factors that influence punishment, and considerations in using punishment.
