A sequential and continuous-flow synthesis of cefazolin was achieved without intermediate isolation, yielding 54% isolated yield and 13.75 g/h dL STY at 0.3 mol/h scale. The flexible system design worked on various scales, and the obtained material had an acceptable impurity profile and purifiable by simple procedures into the essential antibiotics.

A single fullerene molecule shuttling, rotating, and interacting with a vibrating carbon nanotube was visualized using an electron microscope, a fast camera, and a denoising algorithm. An automated microarray diagnostic system for SARS-CoV-2 protein-specific antibodies was developed. Photoimmobilization strategy was used to immobilize proteins by crosslinking reactions of photoreactive polymers. The microarray assay showed higher sensitivity than the conventional immune chromatography. The microarray format was useful for rapid serodiagnosis of viral infectious diseases and assessment of immune status for clinical applications.

Noteworthy results regarding the photoluminescence properties of Eu(III) complexes 1 and 2 with thienyl groups show that quantum yields have strong positive linear correlations with concentration in ethyl acetate, and those in the solid state are located on an extended line. Benzyl radicals were generated from acetals via low-valent titanium-mediated homolytic C–O bond cleavage, and were subjected to radical conjugate addition.
