Submission guidelines

Please refer to the following guidelines as you prepare for final submission. If you have any questions as you finalize your materials, be in touch with your OUP editorial contact.

Manuscript files

• Send your complete manuscript in Word or another file format as agreed with your OUP editorial contact.  Check that your manuscript

  • follows the guidelines in the Writing and content preparation section of these pages

  • is a clean version, without editorial comments or markup (unless agreed otherwise, for example in a new edition)

  • is saved either in one file or separated by chapter, as advised by your OUP editorial contact.

• Include all necessary front and end matter (such as preface, appendices, index, bibliography, , etc.) as specified in your contract and with your OUP editorial contact (see Front and end matter and Index).

• Properly credit and caption all illustrations and provide image files that meet our accessibility, format, and resolution requirements (see Artwork and figures and Alt Text Author Guidelines).

• Be sure all your files are named logically and consistently.

Supporting documents

In addition to your manuscript and figure files, please also include:

• Permissions documentation for copyrighted materials reproduced in your book (see Reproducing copyrighted material)

• Any documentation required for Open Access funder requirements, as applicable.

• Abstracts and keywords (using the template provided)

• A completed art log if requested by your OUP editorial contact

• A completed Author Questionnaire (using the form provided)

• A completed Manuscript Submission Form.

How to send

Consult with your OUP editor if you have large files (over 5 MB total) that will be difficult to send via email, so they can provide a link where you can upload your materials.
