In this multinational prospective, observational cohort study of children and adolescents with invasive candidiasis, initial directed echinocandin antifungal therapy was associated with an adjusted risk reduction of 7.1 points compared with triazole or amphotericin B formulation antifungals.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in very preterm neonates are reliable markers of late-onset bloodstream infection (LOBSI). There appears to be almost no LOBSI without elevation of IL-6 > 100 ng/L or CRP > 10 mg/L at the time of clinical onset.

The study found that while only half of Colorado’s home- and center-based child care programs reported having an employee immunization policy, child care administrators demonstrated high support for statewide immunization regulations for child care employees.

Few data exist surrounding antibiotic requesting, storage, and nonprescription use by caregivers of children in the United States. We found the highest rates of self-directed use or intended use of oral antibiotics in Atlanta households with income of ≥$75 000 annually.
