On the cover: Immunofluorescence studies of an aspirate of a tophus from a patient with chronic gout. Low and high power fluorescent images demonstrate the presence of extracellular DNA associated with neutrophil granule proteins, consistent with neutrophil extracellular traps coating the needle-shaped monosodium urate crystals, the inciting agents of gout. Chatfield, S. M., K. Grebe, L. W. Whitehead, K. L. Rogers, T. Neb, J. M. Murphy, and I. P. Wicks. 2018. Monosodium urate crystals generate nuclease-resistant NETs via a distinct molecular pathway. J. Immunol. 200: 1802–1816.
