Testosterone was measured in pools from the peripheral plasma of adult male shrews (Sunciis murinus), boars, rams, bulls, rats, mice, rabbits and men. A radioimmunoassay employing an antibody specific for testosterone and dihydrotestosterone only was used with and without Sephadex LH-20 chromatography. It was concluded that in all of the species tested with the exception of the rabbit, chromatography is not necessary to establish reliable estimations of testosterone in the peripheral plasma.
