This is an erratum to the paper ‘The HIX galaxy survey II: HI kinematics of HI eXtreme galaxies’ that was published in 2018, MNRAS, 476, 3744, which will be referred to as the original paper.

During the refereeing process we improved some of the TiRiFiC models (more consistent definition of galaxies’ ‘central parts’, within which position angle and inclination are kept constant). This affected Figures 3, 4, 6 and 7 as well as Tables 3 and 4. While the Figures were updated to reflect the changes, the Tables were not, so we publish here the correct versions. This did not affect our analysis and our conclusions remain unchanged.

Inclination and position angle profiles found with TiRiFiC are used to measure radial stellar mass and H i mass profiles in co-centric annuli. Furthermore they are used to measure the average radial H i column density profile, from which the H i radius |$R_{\rm H\,{\small I}}$| is measured. |$R_{\rm H\,{\small I}}$| has not been updated in Table 4 of the original paper during the refereeing process. However, Figures 3 and 4 of the original paper already include the updated |$R_{\rm H\,{\small I}}$| values.

The rotation curves together with the stellar and H i mass profiles are used to estimate the baryonic specific angular momentum jB, and subsequently the dark matter halo spin parameter λ and the stability parameter q, which were given in Table 4 and visualised in Figures 6 and 7 of the original paper. While the Figures were updated to reflect the change, Tables 4 was not updated.

The interpretation, discussion and conclusion of the data in the original paper were primarily based on the figures, all of which were updated during the refereeing process. Therefore, correcting the erroneous table values will not change the results and conclusions of the original paper. However, the corrected tables should nevertheless be provided to the community. In Table 1, we provide the corrected Table 3 from Lutz et al. (2018) and the corrected Table 4 from the original paper is given in Table 2.
