Objective
Penile deformities are common in men with Peyronie’s Disease (PD). Penile instability (PI) is defined as the tendency of the penis to buckle during a rigid erection. PI is a significant contributor to difficulty penetrating and may increase sexual dissatisfaction. Aim: to investigate the prevalence of PI in men with PD and to define predictors of PI.
Methods
Study population included men: with PD, who had a curvature assessment CA after an intra cavernosal injection. The injection agent used was trimix (papaverine/phentolamine/prostaglandin E1) to induce a rigid erection. To define PI, an axial loading was applied by hand to the glans of the penis during maximum rigidity. Multivariable analyses (MVA) was used to explore predictors of PI: degree of curvature (grouped as: <30⁰, 31-59⁰, >60⁰), complex deformity (hourglass deformity HGD or indentation), direction (dorsal vs. other), the presence of tapering, stretched flacid penile length, and CA rigidity response. Logistic regression entering all predictors listed above was used for MVA.
