During my brief, but exciting, tenure as Editor-in-Chief of JCEM this year, I have been continually impressed with the quality and quantity of the research underway in the field of endocrinology that is being submitted to the Journal. We are fortunate that so many scientist and clinician authors consider JCEM as the home for their manuscripts. As a consequence, it has become increasingly difficult to determine who will be published in our limited pages. As submissions increase, we have been forced to become selective to the point of excluding good papers. To avoid depriving our readers of potentially important content, we are instituting some changes that will improve our ability to provide more new information. This is being accomplished by initiating publication of selected content online in a dynamic, timely format.
With this issue of the JCEM, we have introduced the following new online features:

Taking advantage of the digital domain to provide online content will allow us to respond more quickly to scientific advances as they occur. The online venue broadens our scope and enables us to better meet the needs of our readers by providing them with information and a choice of options for using it. Toward this end, our plans for the JCEM in the future include the application of new and innovative uses of technological advances in information delivery and scholarly communication. As these and other new features of the Journal unfold, I would welcome and appreciate your feedback.
