Abstract

Parathyroid extract (PTE) was administered intravenously and intramuscularly to a child and 2 adults with Gardner's syndrome. The child responded normally with an increase in serum calcium and urinary phosphate. The 2 adults showed small changes in serum calcium and phosphorus and little change in tubular reabsorption of phosphate. It appears that adults with Gardner's syndrome are resistant to PTE.
