A log-dose response relationship has been established for the pituitary gonadotropic inhibitory action of estrone administered subcutaneously to the castrated female rat in parabiosis with an intact female on the basis of ovarian weight. The useful assay range was between 0.5 and 2.5 μg of estrone, total dose, administered once daily for 10 days in rats approximately 30 days of age at the start of the assay. The index of precision λ was of the order of 0.3.
