Brain Communications Observers

Do you want to know more about what happens to your papers when you submit them to a journal or what it is like to work as part of an editorial team? Then please join us as an Observer at Brain Communications. In our Observers programme, we will invite participants to shadow our scientific editor for half a day to gain an understanding of the editorial processes at Brain Communications from initial submission to final decision on papers. We will demonstrate some of the day-to-day tasks of an editor and discuss the journal’s wider strategy with Observers. This observation/shadowing will be done online, so we welcome applicants from all over the world. Observers will be asked to maintain confidentiality about any unpublished papers discussed.

Aims:

  • Help observers understand the process of publishing a neuroscience article
  • Be useful in helping observers prepare their own papers for submission
  • Give observers insight into working as part of an editorial team
  • Enhance transparency in Brain Communications' editorial processes

Eligibility:

Neuroscientists at any career stage are eligible to apply to observe. We envision this will be most useful for people at early stages of their careers wanting to understand how to publish papers and people thinking about careers in scientific publishing.

Contact:

Please apply to the Programme by completing the form available here. Please note that during the last week of each month, we will contact the applicants to organise the meetings within this initiative.

If you have questions please contact Brain Communications’ Scientific Editor, Dr. Manuela Marescotti, at: [email protected].
