Abstract
Chapter 22 reviews skills learned during the UP-C group and the progress each child has made, and helps transition each family to using their skills more independently after treatment is over. The parent session helps parents create a plan for sustaining progress after treatment. This begins by reviewing Emotion Detective skills and opposite parenting behaviors learned over the course of treatment. Parents are invited to share their perceptions of their child’s progress, both during exposures and during treatment more generally. Therapists help parents identify areas for continued progress and assists them with developing a plan for sustaining progress and making further gains after treatment. At the end of session, parents learn the difference between lapses and relapses and identify the clues that might indicate that a return to treatment is necessary.
