How you doing, y'all? American football has hit the needle scene. Robin spent several evenings trying to learn the rules off the television when he was holidaying across the pond (and baseball, come to that) but would certainly have been helped by less advertising and a coupla rule books. However, one of his patients recently penned an angry missive to the effect that the Quarter Zone injection in his shoulder had failed. Robin's reply was somewhat half-hearted.
Following the demise of probenecid Robin has been watching for alternative urate-lowering drugs for his allopurinol patients, so he was interested to see an update on leflunomide, which does this (not that anyone will treat gout with it – or will someone get a paper out of trying?). show that it enhances both urate and phosphate loss – they suggest that what the latter might mean clinically should be studied further – and measurements might be useful in monitoring treatment compliance.
