Objective
PE is a common male sexual disorder, with a worldwide prevalence of approximately 15%. The definition of premature ejaculation according to the Guidelines of the ISSM is: ejaculation which always or nearly always occurs prior to or within about one minute of vaginal penetration and the inability to delay ejaculation on all or nearly all vaginal penetrations as well as negative personal consequences, such as distress, bother, frustration and/or the avoidance of sexual intimacy. Putative imbalances of sex steroid concentrations might contribute to the clinical picture. DHT as the most potent androgen might play a pivotal role in the hormone profile of these patients.
Methods
A retrospective study included 46 Patients who visited our outpatient clinic with the complaint of PE according to ISSM criteria and 49 age matched patients, who presented with female factor infertility without any sexual disorder served as controls. Assessment of serum concentrations of FSH, LH, total serum Testosterone, free Testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), SHBG, estradiol, prolactin and PSA was performed in all subjects.
