Reviews of Published Books

The Journal of International Criminal Justice publishes both short book reviews (800-1,000 words) and longer review essays (1,500-2,000 words).  As of 2021, preference is accorded to reviews of non-English language published books, and of published books critically examining historical, social, legal, sociological aspects of international criminal justice, and related areas.

Qualified individuals are invited to submit short book reviews and review essays to the Journal. If you are interested in reviewing a title, please contact the Book Review Editor, Dr Jêrome de Hemptinne, by writing to [email protected]. He is assisted by Guido Acquaviva, Giulia Frinzi, Flavia Patané, Niccolò Pons, and Valentina Spiga.

The Journal also considers for review books sent to us or suggestions for books to be reviewed. If you are interested in having a title reviewed, please contact the Book Review Editor, with information about the title in question.

Ebooks can be emailed to [email protected]. Non-returnable review copies of paper books can be mailed to:

Dr Valentina Spiga
Library, European University Institute
Badia Fiesolana, via dei Roccettini 9
50014 San Domenico di Fiesole (Florence)
Italy

Potential reviewers are requested to send in a short CV and a brief explanation of how their academic and/or professional background demonstrates the qualifications necessary to review a title in the field of international criminal law and justice. In addition, please provide the following information: institutional affiliation; language competency; and contact details. When submitting a book review, any conflict of interest in relation to the book under review or the author of that book needs to be acknowledged.
