Why open access?
Transactions of Mathematics and its Applications is a Gold Open Access (GOA) journal. This approach has dangers but also benefits. The only valid justification for a GOA journal is one that addresses real and perceived dangers honestly, finds ways and means to allay them and maximises the benefits of this approach. The editors of TrMA share the fears in the mathematical community with regard to GOA. We believe, though, that we have answers, but are always happy and willing to discuss this further with our colleagues.

Why TrMA?
The goal of TrMA is to be the first-ever prime journal in Applied Mathematics, spanning the entire range of the subject. There are many excellent journals covering specific parts of the discipline but none gathering all the different threads together. We believe that there is room for one, and that this will be good for authors and for the Applied Mathematics community as a whole.
