Fellows Corner

The Fellows' Corner is a dedicated section of our journal, committed to fostering professional development, collaboration, and reflection among trainees and Early Career Researchers. This section will feature one article every quarter, encompassing an array of content that resonates with the diverse interests and needs of our readership.

Submissions may take the form of commentaries, perspectives, or original articles, falling within the following categories:

Educational Endeavors: Exploration of innovative teaching methods, curricula development, and transformative learning experiences within the healthcare field.

Global Perspectives: Fellows reflect on their international experiences, offering unique insights into healthcare practices and policies across different cultures and systems.

Conference Corner: Summaries and insights from conferences and workshops, capturing key takeaways, emerging trends, and reflections on professional gatherings.

Patient Voices: A unique perspective from patients involved in research or treatment, facilitated by fellows, to deepen understanding and empathy in patient care.
 

IBD Journal Fellowship

This program is tailored for GI or IBD fellows to work closely with the Editors of the IBD journal. This one-year fellowship is a hands-on experience in managing research manuscripts from submission to final decision. Editorial fellows will act as Associate Editor for the IBD journal. reviewing clinical and/or basic research submissions under the guidance of the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor.

This fellowship offers a unique platform for fellows to immerse themselves in the critical aspects of scientific publication and contribute to the field through their enhanced understanding and skills.

Editorial Fellowship Types: There are two types of editorial fellowships available:

  • Clinical-focused Editorial Fellow
  • Translational/basic science-focused Editorial Fellow

Eligibility: The fellowship is open to qualified 2nd and 3rd year GI fellows and advanced IBD fellows.

Timeframe: The fellowship runs annually from February-March of one year through March of the following year.

  • Learning about the roles of editor, reviewer, and publisher for a broad understanding of the scientific publishing process.
  • Acquiring the ability to recognize well-conducted research and scientific writing that merits publication.
  • Developing skills to identify flaws in scientific writing, study design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation that could lead to manuscript rejection.
  • Opportunity to publish in the journal.
