This course is available also as an ebook: 9–78–0–203–46421–2; CDs are also available: 9–78–0–415–22301–0; an Answer Key is available at www.routledge.com/textbooks/0415223008. This intensive language course is extremely well presented. In the preliminary pages we have notes on how to use the book, a glossary and a table giving the Russian alphabet. Thereafter, in Part 1, the “Foundation” (pp. 1–131), we have four units, covering useful topics, functions and basic grammar. There follows Part 2, “Intensive Development” (pp. 133–279), with three chapters, similar to those of Part 1 but with more topics and functions, and a more in-depth coverage of grammar. Finally, in Part 3, “Revision and Development” (pp. 281–375), we have three more chapters, finalising coverage of topics, functions and grammar. After this we have a Russian–English Vocabulary (pp. 376–96) and eight grammatical appendices (pp. 397–417), followed by an Index (pp. 418–19). This extremely thorough and serious course will be very useful for a wide range of users.
