Adam Daunton
Adam Daunton is a Consultant Dermatologist currently working in Melbourne, Australia. He previously worked at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, located in Manchester, UK, where he ran a tertiary urticaria clinic recognised as an Urticaria Centre of Reference and Excellence by the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network. He also has an interest in psychodermatology and was a member of the British Association of Dermatologists Therapy & Guidelines Sub-Committee.
He trained in medicine in Birmingham, UK, and dermatology in Manchester, UK.
He has been the key driver responsible for the creation of the Athena and video new subcategories of CPD article within Clinical and Experimental Dermatology.
Paul Yesudian
Dr Paul Devakar Yesudian graduated from the University of Madras in 1993 and completed an MD in Dermatology in 1996. In the UK, he obtained the MRCP and then a CCST in dermatology after completing the Mersey rotation. He was appointed as a substantive Consultant in the Countess of Chester hospital in 2004 and moved to North Wales in 2008 to further his skills in hill walking! Along with Prof Field and Dr Rajlawat, he has been running a Dermatology/Oral Medicine clinic in the Royal Liverpool University Dental Hospital since 2005.
His interests include the oral manifestations of dermatological disease, history of dermatology, tropical skin diseases, paediatric dermatology and dermatological surgery. He has 65 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored chapters in two textbooks till now. He also has contributed to the British Associations of Dermatologists guidelines on Pemphigus, Methotrexate, Ciclosporin and Acitretin.
He was conferred the title of Honorary Professor by his alma mater, the University of Madras, in 2009 and is a Visiting Professor at the Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. His hobbies include gardening, reading non-fiction books and Tintin comics, and travelling. He also has a YouTube channel that he shares with his father, Prof Patrick Yesudian, called “Discover Dermatology” where he discusses various skin conditions.
Myranda Attard
Dr Myranda Attard is a Dermatology Registrar at Royal Victoria Hospital in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT) in Northern Ireland. She graduated and completed her Foundation Programme in Malta and thereafter pursued her medical speciality training in the U.K. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education awarded by Queen’s University, Belfast. She is passionate about teaching and research and organised the regional journal club meetings at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. She is currently the Belfast Trust postgraduate sub deanery teaching fellow with Queen’s University. She was a local investigator in the ALPHA trial, a multicentre prospective randomised control trial comparing the treatment of severe chronic hand eczema. She also performed a single centre retrospective study on the management of Hidradenitis suppurativa and its associated comorbidities at the Belfast Trust.
Her principal interests include paediatric dermatology, genodermatoses, psychodermatology and medical education.
Maria Charalambides
Dr Maria Charalambides is an Academic Foundation Trainee in the United Kingdom. She completed her BSc in Medical Sciences at Imperial College, London with first-class honours and was awarded The Dudley Philips Memorial prize for obtaining the highest BSc grade. Her interest in research stemmed from medical school, where she was awarded research and international bursaries to undertake research placements abroad, including a placement at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. Maria was subsequently awarded the prestigious Owen Wade Distinction in Research Award upon graduating from medical school. She has presented research nationally and internationally and has also published in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. Maria has a keen interest in digital health and artificial intelligence (AI) research, on which she has published articles and a book chapter in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine on the Clinical Evaluation of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. She is part of the international collaborative STANDING together project, aimed at developing standards to ensure AI systems are representative of the diverse range of people they are intended to be used on. Maria is also involved in British Association of Dermatologists funded AI research, with aim of improving the safety and regulation of commercially available skin applications through collaboration with The Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA), The Health Research Authority (HRA), The Care Quality Commission (CQC), and The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). She is also part of the Core Outcomes of Skin Surgery Group, affiliated with The Cochrane Skin - Core Outcome Set Initiative (CS-COUSIN), which focuses on improving and standardising dermatological surgery outcome measurement in clinical trials, and has also been working on developing sustainability guidance for dermatological surgery as part of the British Society for Dermatological Surgery Sustainability Group, in line with the Greener National Health Service (NHS) campaign.
Aveen Connolly
Dr Aveen Connolly is a UK-trained consultant dermatologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Trust. She completed her dermatology training at St John’s Institute of Dermatology within Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital, London. She has also completed an externship in the Dermatology Department at Yale University Hospital, United States, in spring 2022. Aveen’s main research interests are connective tissue diseases relating to the skin and hair. Aveen was awarded a fellowship by the Royal Society of Medicine and British Skin Foundation, which she completed in rheumatology in August 2023. She is a sub investigator in a number of clinical trials at King’s College Hospital involving dermatomyositis and lupus.
Aveen has published and presented at national and international level and has been the recipient of many national and international awards. She was given the Advanced Euroderm Excellence Award for future leaders in 2021. Aveen is a keen educator and has completed a post graduate certificate in medical education. She regularly lectures nationally and internationally in dermatology, particularly autoimmune diseases.
Anupam Das
Anupam Das works as Assistant Professor, Dermatology in KPC Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, India. He did his medical schooling at Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, India, the oldest medical college in Asia. He was a recipient of the University Gold Medal in the postgraduate final examination in 2015. He has more than 325 scientific publications to his credit and delivered more than 100 lectures over different platforms. He has been bestowed with several recognitions, scholarships and accolades; including an honourable mention for Samuel Zakon Prize 2022 on “History of Leprosy” awarded by the History of Dermatology Society; Travel Grant to attend the International Pigment Cell Conference, Yamagata, Japan 2020; Imrich Sarkany Non-European Memorial scholarship to attend 26th Congress of EADV, 2017; Scholarship to attend the 4th Munich International Summer Academy of Practical Dermatology 2015; World Congress of Dermatology Rising Star Scholarship 2019 and 2015, to name a few. He was an invited speaker on “Future of Leprosy” in WCD 2019. He has conducted more than 25 dermatology quizzes at the state and national levels.
His areas of interest include Clinical Dermatology, Pigmentary disorders, Dermatophytosis, Clinical Trials and Quizzing.
Harvinder Ghura
Dr Vindy Ghura is a Consultant Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon in Manchester. He trained in General Dermatology on the East Midlands rotation before undertaking an 18-month Mohs Fellowship in Cardiff and Lisbon. He established the Mohs unit in Sheffield and is a Consultant in Salford, Manchester, one of the largest Mohs units in the UK.
He is the Past President of the British Society for Dermatological Surgery (BSDS), which is the main body for Mohs Surgeons, Skin Cancer Surgeons and Dermatological Surgeons in the UK. Dr Ghura has been Chair of the Regional Specialist Skin Cancer meeting; is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and was an Examiner for the College for some years.
He has a special interest in Surgical Education and has undertaken a master’s degree in medical education. He has published widely in the fields of both Mohs and Dermatological Surgery and has developed assessment tools for both sub-specialities now used at the national level.
He is currently leading a national project with the BAD and BSDS to develop Virtual Surgical learning modules.
Mary Glover
Mary Glover is a consultant in Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. She trained in medicine at Cambridge University, and then in paediatrics, dermatology and paediatric dermatology in London.
In recent years her clinical work has increasingly been focused on vascular tumours, malformations and overgrowth.
As many of these conditions are mosaic disorders, the area of particular interest has been in finding the relevant somatic mutations, with a view to exploring targeted therapies.
She is on the executive board and the training committee of the European Society for Pediatric Dermatology.
Emelie Hutton
Emelie Hutton is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and an Internal Medical Trainee at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. She currently holds a leadership role as Associate College Tutor, representing the views of fellow trainees to facilitate improvement in training. After graduating from the University of Bristol with honours in her intercalated BSc in Physiological Science, she completed her MBChB, receiving two undergraduate prizes for recognition of excellent performance in examinations and graduating with Merit. She completed her Foundation Training in the South London Deanery and was awarded a regional trainee merit award for Clinical Excellence by the director of the South Thames deanery.
She went on to work as the dermatology junior clinical fellow at Kings College Hospital, London, where she presented locally, nationally, and internationally, undertook departmental quality improvement projects, and contributed to the organisation and provision of medical student dermatology teaching. She has a keen interest in medical education and additionally the role social media can play in its provision; having her own educational MRCP revision account and an educational YouTube channel aimed at undergraduates.
Rohit Kothari
Dr Rohit Kothari is an Assistant Professor in Dermatology currently working at Command Hospital, Bangalore, India in a tertiary care government public hospital. He completed his primary medical qualification and specialization in Dermatology from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College in India. He has published extensively in various national and international peer-reviewed PubMed indexed journals including NEJM, BJD, and JEADV, and has more than 50 publications to his credit. He has also received multiple scholarships, mentorship award, travel grants, and national level awards under the aegis of IADVL, BAD, EADV, and ISD. His areas of interest include Clinical Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, Infectious diseases, Psoriasis vulgaris, Blistering diseases, Research, and teaching.
Danning Li
Danning Li is an internal medicine doctor at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. She completed her undergraduate studies at University College London, gaining First class honours in her intercalated BSc in Neuroscience. During medical school, Danning represented her university at the national BMA Medical Students’ Conference, advocating for fairer examinations.
After obtaining her MBBS, Danning went on to complete an Academic Foundation Programme at Universities Hospitals Birmingham, where she contributed towards the Janssen and ChadOx vaccine development programmes. During this time, she was also a national F2 representative for the West Midlands, promoting junior doctor wellbeing during the coronavirus pandemic. She enjoys teaching and has previously formulated and ran induction programmes for new clinical starters on a local level, as well as dermatological examination preparation courses with the University of Birmingham.
Puo Nen Lim
Dr Chris Puo Nen Lim is a dermatology registrar working in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. He graduated from the University of Aberdeen and subsequently obtained a postgraduate certificate in internal medicine from the University of Edinburgh. He is also the current trainee representative for the Scottish Dermatological Society for 2022 to 2023 and has previously been part of the trainee committee in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. His academic interests include dermatological surgery, medical dermatology and medical education.
Khaylen Mistry
Khaylen Mistry is an Academic Clinical Fellow in Dermatology at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and is an honorary tutor at the University of East Anglia. During medical school, he completed an MRes (dermatology) exploring the effectiveness of different antibiotic regimens in cellulitis and risk factors for recurrence of cellulitis. He later graduated from medical school top of his year before completing a PGCertClinEd whilst working full time as an academic foundation doctor in Dermatology. He is a member of the FHEA and has set up his own charity to support medical students engaging in research. In his spare time, he competes in the Ironman triathlon to a near-professional level.
His research interests include skin infections, skin cancer epidemiology and medical education. He worked as principal investigator on studies evaluating large national datasets in collaboration with Public Health England. His current academic works focus on rare skin cancer epidemiology, identifying the incidence, treatment, and survival trends of Merkel cell carcinoma. He has explored risk factors for developing Merkel cell carcinoma and how demographic variables may relate to patient survival. He is passionate about raising awareness and improving understanding of rare skin cancers.
Sunita Odedra
Dr Sunita Odedra graduated from the University of Leicester in 2013 and completed an intercalated BSc in Anatomy and Human Sciences at King’s College London, with first class honours in 2011. She undertook her medical and dermatology training across several trusts in the West Midlands, gaining extensive experience in general dermatology, as well as many sub-specialist areas including dermatologic surgery. Dr Odedra successfully secured a highly competitive post as a Post CCT Mohs Surgical Fellow in Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust, where she is advancing her surgical skills under the guidance of highly experienced Mohs surgeons. She has had the privilege of presenting cases and research at regional, national, and international conferences. Dr Odedra has also undertaken a number of leadership and managerial roles, including regional trainee representative for core medical and dermatology trainees. She takes pride in teaching and is an honorary personal academic tutor to medical students at the University of Birmingham. Dr Odedra is committed to facilitating shared learning in Dermatology.
Aparna Potluru
Dr Aparna Potluru is an Internal medical year 2 trainee who is pursuing a career in dermatology. She completed her undergraduate studies at Edinburgh Medical School during which she completed an intercalated BSc in Reproductive Biology. She subsequently completed Foundation training in Glasgow where she was a representative on the West of Scotland foundation forum.
Aparna is an ambassador for the British Skin foundation and is co-chair of the ‘Battle of the Dermsoc Committee’. She is also on the Royal college of Physicians Edinburgh Trainee and members committee where she represents the views of fellow trainees to facilitate improvement in training, works as part of their social media and podcasts.
She has presented research nationally and internationally and has also published in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. She was awarded a national prize for a quality improvement project she led on post-operative complications in dermatological surgery. This work led to altering surgical proforma and removing specific sutures from use which had been shown to be associated with higher rates of wound dehiscence.
Aparna has a strong teaching portfolio and has been dermatology lead for an online undergraduate medical teaching programme where she designed the curriculum, worked with tutors to organise a structured series and delivered teaching sessions. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Warwick.
She has been an Associate Editor for Clinical and Experimental Dermatology since 2021 and began her role as CPD Co-editor in 2024.
Tamara Searle
Tamara Searle is an Internal Medical Trainee year 2 trainee at St Mary’s Hospital in London, who is pursuing a career in dermatology. She grew up in Manchester and studied medicine at The University of Birmingham. She obtained a BSc in Psychology (First class Hons) from King’s College London and graduated in medicine with MBChB (Distinction) in 2021. She was awarded the prestigious Owen Wade distinction in research award with her medical degree and she has Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Buckingham.
She has published extensively on dermatological topics in a variety of national and international peer-reviewed journals. She has presented research nationally and internationally and was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine registrar prize whilst still a medical student for her work on surgical plumes in dermatology. This work led to a change in national guidance for dermatologists when using laser cautery devices.
She has been an Associate Editor for Clinical and Experimental Dermatology since 2022 and commenced her Co-Editor role in 2024.
Lydia Spencer
Dr Lydia Spencer is an internal medicine doctor at University Hospitals Birmingham. She completed a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool gaining first-class honours. She was awarded the Peter Nowell Prize for most outstanding student in Pharmacology for her research during her dissertation. She completed her MBChB at the University of Birmingham and her foundation training in the West Midlands. Following completion of her MBChB she has been heavily involved in medical education, developing and delivering a 12 week teaching series for third year medical students. She has a keen interest in medical writing and has published in peer reviewed journals. Her most recent audit on pre-chemotherapy investigations lead to new departmental guidance for healthcare professionals to follow and refer to when planning to initiate chemotherapy.
Zoi Tsianou
Dr Zoi Tsianou is a GMC Specialist Registered Dermatologist, double qualified, in the UK and Greece. She has a long NHS experience and currently works as a Consultant Dermatologist at Basildon University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Her academic background includes a Bachelors in Biological Applications and Technologies, including 1-year laboratory-based research, followed by a Masters degree in Internal Medicine and a PhD in the use of machine learning techniques for the development of quantitative methods of assessing liver fibrosis. Dr Tsianou completed all of her studies, including a Medical Degree (MD), at the University of Ioannina in Greece. She then moved to the UK where she completed her speciality training in dermatology. During her training, she was awarded the UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network Fellowship, where she was involved with research projects in dermatology and further developed her skills in critically appraising dermatological literature, as well as gained further understanding of the development of clinical trials. Dr Tsianou has published her work in high-impact peer-reviewed journals as well as presented in national and international courses and conferences. She has been an associate editor at Clinical and Experimental Dermatology since 2018 and for the first 3 years, she was also a member of the social media team. Currently, she sees a wide variety of cases in general dermatology, skin cancer, surgery and focuses on further developing her special interests in biologic therapy and contact allergy. She has additionally been managing the registrar teaching as well as the journal club sessions.
