Abstract
This chapter evaluates the political changes that occurred during the years immediately after 1959 and their impact on music making, pinpointing the factors that affected the performers significantly, such as the decisions to standardize performer salaries and nationalize public businesses. It also records the financial crisis that was soon faced by the music industry and the increasingly politicized context of music making.
