Abstract
This chapter focuses on the travel experiences of the people of Tarim relevant to the Hadrami diaspora. It contends that the history of Hadrami migrations across the Indian Ocean is something of a fabulous tale, in which secrecy and exaggeration follow one another in quick succession. It explains that the Hadramis were only to carry texts written by Hadramis on their journeys during the sixth century and that these texts facilitated Hadrami movement across the ocean.
