Abstract
Energy medicine involves the non-pharmacologic concept of using energy flow for treatment of disorders, including skin conditions.. Its use is derived from a number of cultures ranging from Chinese with their emphasis on acupuncture meridians, to Russian with their emphasis on electrical phenomena, to Peruvian shaman with their emphasis on light refined versus heavy energy. These approaches contrast with the usual western European focus on biochemical treatments based on pharmacology. Most of these methods do not yet have good evidence-based scientific validation. Some are based on the concept of energy stagnating or being blocked in some part of the body with deleterious health effects, and with treatments restoring the free flow of energy.
