Trainee Reviewer Program
Biology of Reproduction is proud to engage the next generation of reproductive scientists through our Trainee Reviewer Program.
The Trainee Reviewer Program provides senior SSR trainee members in the field of reproductive biology with the opportunity to review manuscripts that have been submitted for publication to Biology of Reproduction. This is a great way for trainees to actively participate in the peer review process as official ad hoc reviewers while building their career network and professional portfolio!
Here’s how to participate in the Trainee Reviewer Program:
Eligibility
- Individual must be a postdoctoral fellow
- Individual must have at least one first-author manuscript published/accepted in a peer-reviewed journal
Mechanism to apply
- Submit a letter to bor@ssr.org, addressed to the Editors-in-Chief, Dr. Romana Nowak and Dr. Mary Zelinski. The letter should include a few brief statements in each of the following: 1) why you want to serve in this role; 2) what your scientific background is; and 3) in what areas you feel qualified to review
- Indicate: 1) Areas of Expertise (choose 3-5 key words), 2) Major Organ(s) of Study, and 3) Organism/Model System. Please refer to these categories as they are listed on the Biology of Reproduction Directory website
- Attach your CV or Biosketch (both are not required)
Evaluation of applications: The Editors-in-Chief will evaluate the applications. Qualified applicants will be notified and then will be added to the reviewer pool.
NOTE: Entry into the reviewer pool does not guarantee that postdocs will be selected as reviewers. Reviewer selection is at the discretion of the Associate Editors. However, Associate Editors are regularly encouraged to utilize the expertise of the Trainee Reviewers.
