In 2023, a trial was conducted to evaluate tarnished plant bug (TPB) efficacy at 4 different rates of Transform 50WG along with an untreated control in Glendora, Mississippi. This study was conducted as a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. All the plots were 4 rows wide and 40 feet long on 38-inch centers. Insecticides were applied with a tractor-mounted sprayer calibrated to 10.0 GPA at 60 PSI using TX-6 hollow cone nozzles (2 per row). The first application was made on 1 Aug, and TPB populations were evaluated 2 and 6 days after treatment (DAT). Insecticide efficacy was evaluated by taking 2 drops, using a black drop cloth (5-row feet in length) from the center 2 rows of each plot. Total TPB nymphs were reported from each plot. Data for this trial were analyzed with ANOVA and means were separated using Fisher’s protected least significant difference (LSD) (P ≤ 0.05).

At 2 DAT2 all Transform treatments lowered TPB populations below that of the untreated check (Table 1). The 4 rates of Transform were not statistically different from one another and all Transform treatments separated from the untreated control. The same trend was observed at 6 DAT. All Transform treatments provided better control of TPB than the untreated control. From this data set, we can conclude that the lowest labeled rate of Transform provides the same level of control as the 3 higher rates.
