Abstract
Cicletanine, a new furopyridine derivative synthetized by the Institut Henri Beaufour (France) was found to work as an efficient antihypertensive agent in DOCA-salt rats. This compound also inh ibited the development of cardiac hypertrophy characteristic of this sort of hypertension. The mechanism of antihypertensive action at nondiuretic doses of cicletanine remains to be studied. Am J Hypertens 1989;2:718–720.
