The first composite item comprised the average of the following three items: “If a hurricane takes place, I know how to take proper actions to ensure my family’s and my safety,” “If a hurricane occurs, I know how to prepare my properties to minimize the physical damage of the hurricane on my properties,” and “I feel confident about protecting my family and I against the negative impact of a hurricane.” The second composite item comprised the average of the following two items: “I have the ability needed to cope with an incoming hurricane,” and “I can access all the resources needed to cope with an incoming hurricane.”
