HST images of the centres of the galaxies studied in this paper, prepared by combining a red and blue image of each galaxy. The images were scaled to have the same maximum brightness prior to combination. The centre of each image corresponds to the galactic centre & dark regions indicate absorption. The dimensions of each image in kpc, specified in the relevant subcaption, were calculated using the redshift-independent distance measurements listed in Table 1. The legend at the bottom of each image is specified in arbitrary flux units. All image data is sourced from the Hubble Legacy Archive.
