The top panel shows the interpolated velocity dispersion from the H |$\alpha$| emission with a Gaussian scale of 0.1 deg and a cutoff size equal to the smoothing size. The middle panel shows the velocity dispersions from the H i gas interpolated the same way as the H |$\alpha$| values. The bottom panel shows the ratio of the velocity dispersions for the H |$\alpha$| emitting gas and the H i gas at this smoothing scale. The contours are from the SHASSA R band and are used to highlight the location of the SMC main body.
