Data points were obtained by subdividing Pictor A into rectangular regions of 30 arcsec in width along the jet axis and calculating the mean, median and standard deviation of data within those regions. The standard deviation is shown in the filled coloured patches, while the solid and dashed lines indicate the mean and median, respectively. For clarity, we also show a dotted line at a depolarization ratio of 1. Negative distances indicate a leftward direction from the radio core, while positive ones indicate a rightward direction. The vertical dashed line indicates the core’s position.
