The geometry of the cylinder scattering problem. An incident wavefield of P and S waves, satisfying the conditions σ^I_xz= 0, σ^I_zz=−e^i(kx−ωt) at the seabed, is incident on a cylindrical heterogeneity of radius R. The scattered displacement field is evaluated at the seabed and can be used to calculate the compliance.
