Plasma Membrane H+-Pumping Activity Increases in Mycorrhizal Roots of Rice and M. truncatula.
Plasma membrane vesicles were isolated from plants mock-inoculated (–) and inoculated (+) with R. irregularis for 6 weeks. Quenching of acridine orange was monitored as a measure for intravesicular acidification. Optical density at 495 nm was measured 0 and 5 min after addition of MgSO4 and the relative change per minute and gram fresh weight (FW) calculated.
