Amplitudes of tidal constituent residuals, in units of nm s−2 of GRACE intersatellite range acceleration, based on using either (left) tide model FES2012 or (right) tide model FES2014 to compute the expected tidal perturbation to the intersatellite ranges. Large residual amplitudes occur in places where GRACE’s measured ranges disagree with model-based calculated ranges, thus suggesting locations of likely tide model errors.
