Sections from the normalized X-shooter spectrum of Q 0918+1636 around selected low- and high-ionization absorption lines from the DLA. The zero-point of the velocity is set to |$z$|_DLA = 2.5832. The blue dashed line marks the redshift of the previously identified galaxy counterpart at an impact parameter of 16.2 kpc. The red dashed line marks the velocity offset of 131 km s⁻¹ measured from the centroid of the CO(3–2) emission line from the galaxy 117 kpc from the quasar.
