Number of active Red-shouldered Hawk nests monitored per year in each study area in southern Ohio. Nests were considered active if there was evidence that eggs had been laid (i.e., incubating adult, small down feathers on the edges of nest, or broken eggshells below nest). Only nest areas active in at least 4 of the 9 years of the study are included here and in analyses.
