Cover illustration. Calcification of the myocardium resulting from mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK; PD-0325901) or pan-fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR; PD-0330361) inhibition reported in the present issue by Yanochko et al. While the FGFR pathway is an appealing strategy for anticancer treatments, the involvement of this receptor in normal cardiovascular development and function poses a significant obstacle.
