Gustave Alhadeff
I was born in the Belgian Congo in 1940 and, at age 13, won my first award at the annual amateur art show in
Elizabethville, South Africa. My most influential art teacher was Marcel Pire, “Grand Prix De Rome” winner.
At the Cape Town Michaelis School Art Academy in 1957 I received a scholarship for Anvers, Belgium to study
under Master Creytens. I also studied fine art with Leon Devos at the Brussels Royal Academy. At the age of 18, I
had my first one-man show at the Gallerie Bruegel in Brussels. In 2012 I was awarded the “Arts-Sciences-Lettres”
Vermilion Medal of Honor. This year I was represented at the Haven Craft Gallery in Las Vegas for 6 months.
Examples of my work can be viewed on several Internet websites by just googling my name. In the fall, I will be
relocating to Austin, texas.
