Abstract

A new approach formalism for committed dose equivalent assessment in different organs of the human body after the intake of a radionuclide is presented. For this formalism, knowledge of the committed dose equivalent in an organ requires the calculation of the mean residence time. The algorithm has been applied to the calculation of committed dose equivalent in different organs after inhalation of 99Tc. For this purpose, a set of experimental 99Tc concentrations measured in surface air samples taken at Seville in south-western Spain during the years 1965-1967 has been used. The results are compared with those obtained in previous work in which the same external sources was used, but calculations of dose are made in the traditional way.
