Abstract
The CaSO4:Dy thermoluminescence dosemeter (TLD) badge designed for individual monitoring could also be used for environmental monitoring. A method is proposed to estimate the ambient dose equivalent, H*(10) from environmental radiation using a linear combination of the TL response of CaSO4:Dy under metal filters and Perspex, even when the photon spectrum deviates significantly from that normally expected in the environment.
