Rob Allen is Director of the International Centre for Prison Studies at King’s College London. He was previously Director of Rethinking Crime and Punishment at the Esmee Fairburn Foundation in London and, before that, Director of Research at the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (Nacro) and Head of the Juvenile Offender Policy Unit in the UK Home Office. He was a member of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales (YJB) for several years. He has extensive experience of international penal reform work, mainly in the field of young people.
Maggie Blyth is the Independent Chair of Nottingham Youth Offending Team (YOT) Management Board and has been a member of the Parole Board for England and Wales since 2005. She was Head of Practice at the YJB from 2001 to 2005 and set up the Oxfordshire YOT in the late 1990s. With a background in the probation service and youth justice, she continues to work extensively at international, national and local levels, advising on youth justice policy and practice. She is co-editor of Young people and risk (The Policy Press, 2007) and Young people and custody (The Policy Press, 2008).
