Virtual Issue: Mnemiopsis Leidyi, Recent Studies on an Invasive Ctenophore

The ctenophore, Mnemiopis leidyi has been the focus of a considerable body of papers in Journal of Plankton Research . These have ranged from the early classical studies on the species in its native habitat on the east coast of the US to more recent interest as it has become established as an invasive species first in the Black Sea and subsequently more widely in European waters.

In this Virtual Issue we present a selection of this work on Mnemiopsis covering aspects of invasion ecology, impacts on European ecosystems, feeding and larval physiology, potential predators, species identity and sample preservation.
