Abstract
The New York Bight possesses a diverse assemblage of phytoplankton where seasonal periods of high growth are dominated by several, chain-forming diatoms and a pico-nanoplankton component The composition is similar to other regions of the northeastern shelf, producing late winter-early spring and fall maxima.
