Abstract
Levels of a cysteine endopeptidase, EP-Cl, and its mRNA increased slightly in cotyledons of French bean detached from embryonic axes. A transient expression assay by a particle gun indicated that the downstream region from position –340 of the EP-Cl gene was sufficient for gene expression in cotyledons of germinating seeds.
