Abstract
Three protochlorophyll(ide)-binding proteins were separated from an SDS-solubilized extract of etiolated leaves of kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) by size-exclusion, high-performance liquid chromatography. The molecular masses of these pigment proteins were determined to be 84, 38 and 25 kDa. In the illuminated sample, the peak areas of the 84 and 38 kDa proteins decreased, indicating phototransformation of the pigments in these proteins.
