Abstract
Photochemical properties were determined for undegraded phytochrome purified from lyophilized rye seedlings (Secale cereale cv. Cougar). The preparation was shown to be a two-component system during phototransformations and dark transformation from red-light-induced photostationary state. The mole fraction of PFR at the 665-nm-light-induced photostationary state was 0.84. The ratio of the quantum yield of photoconversion from PR to PFR to that from PFR to PR was 1.53.
