Abstract

Protein analysis and electron microscopic observation of the freeze-fractured plane of the plasma membrane were performed with an acriflavine-sensitive mutant carrying mutation acrA (at min 10) and with the wild type (acrA+) strain of Escherichia coli K-12. The acrA mutant membrane was deficient (or much lower) in one protein when analyzed by the polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis technique.
