Abstract
In this paper, the orbital period change of the RS CVn-type binary system WY Cnc is analyzed through a detailed description of the |$O-C$| curve by a weighted least-squares method. It is found that the period variation is suffering a secular period decrease at a rate of |$dp/dt$||$=$||$-$|1.20 |$\times$| 10|$^{-7}$|dy|$^{-1}$|. Since WY Cnc is a typical detached binary system, and both components are late-type stars, the long-term period decrease may be caused by angular momentum loss via magnetic braking.
