Abstract
This chapter introduces the pro-independence Puerto Rican Nationalist Party and its solidarity networks throughout the Americas. It argues that for the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party anti-colonial nationalism went hand in hand with anti-imperialism and transnational solidarity with individuals, organizations, and governments across the region. It disputes the suggestion that the Nationalist Party was influenced by European fascism by demonstrating its strong ties with anti-imperialism and left-wing forces throughout the hemisphere.
