David Bashwiner is an Associate Professor of Music Theory at the University of New Mexico with degrees in music theory (Ph.D., University of Chicago), music composition (MMus, University of Illinois), and psychology (AB, Cornell University). His doctoral dissertation, “Musical Emotion: Toward a Biologically Grounded Theory,” explored the biological foundations of emotional responses to music. His recent work has extended these explorations to the realms of multimedia and creativity.

Matthew A. Haakenson is Assistant Professor of Music at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. His research focuses on compositional theory, counterpoint, form, and canonic systems in music of the late baroque and pre-classical periods. His work in the area of galant music has appeared in Early Music and will also be appearing in the forthcoming Lexiconder Holzblasinstrumente by Laaber-Verlag (fall 2017). He received a Ph.D. in music theory from the University of Kentucky in 2008.

Benjamin Hansberry is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Bates College. He holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and his recently completed dissertation traces the use of abstract and phenomenal concepts in contemporary music analysis including Schenkerian theory, transformational theory, and neo-Riemannian theory. He has published in Current Musicology and presented his work at meetings of the Society for Music Theory, the Music Theory Society of New York State, the New England Conference of Music Theory, and the Music and Philosophy Study Group of the Royal Music Association.
