LECTURER PROFILE
Dr Tetsuo Tsuji entered the Ministry of Health and Labour (the current Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare) after graduating from the Faculty of Law, the University of Tokyo, in 1971. During his career at the ministry, he served as Director of the Division of the Welfare for the Elderly, the Health and Welfare Bureau for the Elderly; Director of the National Health Insurance Division, the Health Insurance Bureau; Councillor for the Minister's office (in charge of health insurance and healthcare policies); Director-General of the Minister's Secretariat, Director-General of the Health Insurance Bureau and Administrative Vice Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, among others. He is currently serving as the professor of the Institute of Gerontology, the University of Tokyo. He was involved in the healthcare reform process during his tenure in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. His publications include: Vision of Japan's Healthcare Reform (Jiji Press, Ltd., 2008.) and 2030: A Super-aged Future (Co-author, Toyo Keizai Publishing, Inc., 2010.).
